Exhibitions Assistant (Kickstart Placement)
This is a 6 month placement only available to 16-24 year olds who are out of work and claiming universal credit. Your application will not be accepted without a referral from The Department for Work & Pensions quoting your unique introduction ID.
The Exhibitions Assistant will work under the supervision of the Assistant Exhibitions Manager. The role will be varied and provide the opportunity to acquire research, collections care, oral history, script-writing and interpretive planning skills.
You will be helping to maintain the high-quality presentation of the permanent galleries and support wide-ranging tasks relating to the creation of new exhibitions.
At the end of the 6-month period the placement will have gained valuable working experience and training on exhibitions. You will have a more compelling CV with hands on experience in a large and successful Museum.
A relevant qualification would be desirable with some experience of working in a similar environment. More important is a keen interest in 20th century military history with the desire to pursue a museum or exhibitions career.
